General Handover Survey online
The first SafePAT survey is online! Two weeks ago, we started distributing the General Handover Survey. The survey is aimed at identifying the needs of healthcare professionals in (cross-border) patient handover in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine. Therefore we included healthcare professionals that work in hospitals and healthcare professionals that work for the local ambulance service in this region. Because of this, we included the following hospitals:
- Uniklinikum Aachen
- Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg Genk
- MUMC+ Maastricht
- CHR de la Citadelle Liège
Besides, we included the ambulance service of the Belgian province of Limburg, of the region Aachen, and of the ambulance staff in the region of Liège. Since there are multiple language areas involved, the survey is available in French, Dutch, Flemish and German.
The survey is aimed at identifying the needs of healthcare professionals with regard to (cross-border) patient handover. We ask participants to share their ideas about what they think are the biggest patient safety risks in (cross-border) handover. Next to that, they are asked to share what they think should be done to improve patient safety during (cross-border) handover. Furthermore, we ask them more general questions about the procedures and checklists that are used during general and cross-border handover situations.
Most noteworthy is that already 729 healthcare professionals have responded up to now. The survey will be online for another month. For more info contact us via our contact form or send us an email at our general mail-address firstname.lastname@example.org.
